FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore infielder Kyle Atrat went 4-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Bulldogs to a 8-4 victory over Pennsylvania in Fresno State's opener of the 25th annual Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic Monday at Beiden Field.

The Bulldogs improve to 7-12 while the Quakers fall to 0-3.

Atrat hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning and added an RBI single in the seventh inning to give the Bulldogs their eighth run of the game. On the night, Atrat tallied three singles and a double to tie junior catcher Brandon Marcelli for the most hits by a Bulldog this season.

Quakers' starter Ben Kranz (0-1) was touched for seven runs (four earned) on ten hits over five innings of work to pick up the loss in his first outing of the season.

Freshman outfielder Chase Moore and junior infielder Chris Patrick each clubbed a home run to mark Fresno State's first multi-homer game of the year. Moore hit a two-run round tripper in the third inning for his second of the season. Patrick added a homer later in the frame to give him career hit No. 99. Junior infielder Ryan Haag (3-for-5) and senior infielder Brian Pierce (2-for-2) also recorded multi-hit efforts for the Bulldogs.

Penn's Mike Goldblatt went 2-for-4 including his first home run of the season to lead the Qaukers' offensive attack.

Fresno State junior lefty David Griffin (2-1) scattered a run on two hits while striking out four over a season high tying 3 1/3 innings in relief to earn his second victory of the season.

The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday against Illinois State at 7 p.m.
